Cow Fart Tax
No kidding. Some in government now want to put a tax on cow farts. So let’s put on our “big picture” glasses and see if we can.. uhmm.. clear the air on this one.
The price of a gallon of milk includes enough to cover the taxes paid by the farmer, the processor, and everyone between the cow’s teat and the dairy shelf of your local grocer. Everything from the cow’s food to fuel used to process and transport the milk.. even the container it’s put in has been taxed. Those taxes are hidden from the consumer, but they’re paid as a part of doing business. In the end, the cost of these hidden taxes are covered by you, the person that buys the milk.
When the government sticks its greedy little paw into anything, the price of that “thing” is going to go up. It has to. So when the farmer gets hit with the cow fart tax, His cost of doing business goes up. So does the price you pay for a gallon of milk.
After the tax gets added, the new price of milk will be too expensive for the less fortunate to buy. There are two solutions:
- Do away with the fart tax. OR,
- Give more tax money to low income people.
It would make the most sense to just do away with the cow fart tax. You know that’s not how the government would fix things. That would cut down on the amount of money they have to research other insane ways of taking money away from us. No, they would opt to give more money to those who can no longer afford milk’s price.
Meanwhile, common folks will find the cost of milk too high. They’ll buy less or quit buying it altogether. Gassy cows will be sent to slaughter, causing a glut of beef on the market. Farmers will go broke and need additional government assistance. The children of working class parents will not have strong bones and teeth. A national crisis will be declared, Bush will somehow be blamed and congress will respond by injecting billions of dollars into the teamsters union.
