Teamsters and Congress out to Squash FedEx
Yup. That’s right. Unions and Congress team up to wipe out another great American company.
Rep James Oberstar, Minnesota Democrat, has managed to sneak a provision into legislation passed on May 21 that’s designed to put FedEx out of business.
…But, in short, UPS lobbyists have buried a short 230-word legislative bailout deep inside the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2009. It’s worth billions to “Big Brown” at the expense of our economy which thrives on next-day commerce, competitive shipping options and ready access to markets around the world. Essentially, Big Brown wants to force the world’s most efficient airline to operate under outdated trucking rules.

UPS is a big giver to politicians.. all that bribery is paying off. Forcing the worlds most efficient airline to operate under 100 year old trucking rules will put FedEx out of business.

Get Freakin Real, please get informed. You’re comments indicate you are not aware of the facts of this situation. Not suprising if your only source is FedEx. Try the NY Times piece or UPS’s website to get the full picture. Please read the full set of facts, think it through and then comment. We don’t need more knee jerk commentary. I agree that we need to get the gov’t out of the busines of choosing sides in the market. This FAA bill is in fact correcting the earmark that FedEx has benefited from for years. A level playing field is what is needed for capiatlism to work.

Well Scoyt… Using NY Times for an information source would be irresponsible. I also wouldn’t expect UPS to be very upfront on the matter. The facts are in H.R. 915. I can understand your concern for not wanting any additional commentary on the subject. You’re comments are coming from an IP owned by UPS.
