Abu Ghraib photos provoked shock, then anger, for Arabs – CNN.com

Posted by: Larry

CNN’s Middle East Affairs Senior Editor Octavia Nasr says pictures from Abu Ghraib caused things like horror, shock and anger.

There is hardly anything in U.S.-Arab relations that screams scandal louder than the torture pictures of Abu Ghraib:

The abuse that went on behind these gates hardened Arab opinion against the United States.

Naked hooded male bodies in the fetal position, piled up on top of each other in a pyramid shape, next to them U.S. soldiers in uniform smiling and giving two thumbs up. Naked males made to touch their genitals on camera, others beaten so hard that paramedics are at hand to treat their wounds in preparation for the next round of torture.

Me thinks Octavia Nasr forgot to mention a few things that may have soured U.S.-Arab relations...

Well… hardly anything, except maybe those isolated incidents of Americans getting beheaded.

Or maybe a few airplanes being flown into buildings.

Or the occasional killing of people with the wrong religious beliefs.

Or the occasional suicide bomber….

At least our “bad apples” always have paramedics standing by.
